On October 22, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee Le Hong Vinh said that the Provincial People's Committee had approved the investment policy for the Phuong Hoang General Hospital Project in Vinh Loc Ward.
The project is invested by the Joint Venture of Infrastructure Construction and Transport Investment Joint Stock Company (Intracom) and MST Investment Joint Stock Company, with a scale of 350 beds, a total investment of about VND 1,510 billion, expected to be built on a 34,600m2 plot of land in Vinh Loc ward - frontage of Vinh - Cua Lo Boulevard.
According to the records, this is a high-quality general hospital, in which the spearhead is the cardiology department, a field in which Nghe An currently does not have its own specialized hospital. Currently, the Provincial People's Committee is requiring relevant departments, branches and Vinh Loc ward to implement investment procedures to soon implement the project.
However, reality shows that Vinh City (old) currently has 9 private hospitals in operation, including many large-scale facilities such as Vinh International Hospital (500 beds), Nghe An General Friendship Hospital - Phase 2 (600 beds)...
In addition to private health facilities operating effectively, there are some facilities that are falling into a state of lack of patients and operating at a low level.
Nghe An province currently has about 3,720 non-public medical facilities licensed to operate, including 15 private general and specialized hospitals with 1,861 beds, accounting for nearly 10% of the total planned hospital beds of the province.
From 2019 to present, Nghe An Provincial People's Committee has approved 8 private hospital projects with a total capital of more than 912 billion VND; it is expected that by 2030, the whole province will have 22 non-public hospitals.
From the above reality, the reporter raised the issue of whether Vinh City (old) needs to have more private medical facilities while there are many private hospitals, what the future of the new facilities will be like, whether it will operate effectively or not.
Responding to Lao Dong Newspaper, Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee Le Hong Vinh said: "The Phuong Hoang General Hospital Project in Vinh Loc Ward is in line with the land use planning in Vinh Loc Ward (medical land), as well as the orientation to develop Nghe An into a high-quality medical center of the North Central region. This is a high-quality healthcare project, mainly the cardiology department - Nghe An sector does not have a specialized hospital, so the province encourages, attracts and creates conditions for investors to implement".
Regarding concerns about investment efficiency, Mr. Le Hong Vinh emphasized: "The efficiency and future development of the project is the responsibility of investors, they must calculate very carefully before deciding to invest".
Resolution 39 dated July 18, 2023 of the Politburo on the construction and development of Nghe An province until 2030, with a vision to 2045, determines the goal of Nghe An being a fairly developed province of the country by 2030, a rapid and sustainable economic development, imbued with the cultural identity of Vietnam and Nghe An; a center of the North Central region in trade, logistics, healthcare, education and training, science and technology, industry and high-tech agriculture.
