On November 3, the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue of Quang Tri province confirmed that from November 3 to November 10, Quang Tri will be affected by bad weather conditions causing heavy rain. Warning of the risk of major floods above alert level 3, widespread flooding, flash floods and landslides.

Therefore, Quang Tri province has issued a telegram, requesting localities to urgently overcome the consequences of storm Tra Mi (storm No. 6) and recent floods to stabilize people's lives. Review response plans for all levels of natural disaster risks, especially focusing on evacuation plans and relocation of people close to the reality of each locality.

Due to the forecast of prolonged heavy rains and widespread flooding, Quang Tri province has requested localities to instruct people to stockpile food and essential goods to ensure daily life for 7 to 10 days. Relevant units should proactively lower the water level of irrigation reservoirs to receive floods; do not store water in reservoirs and dams that are at risk of becoming unsafe.

Mr. Ha Sy Dong - Permanent Vice Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee said that Quang Tri province has just experienced heavy rain, although the rain did not last long, it has flooded more than 2,000 houses and damaged traffic and agricultural infrastructure. With the forecast of prolonged rain, heavier rainfall and higher water levels on rivers, it is very worrying that there will be a risk of widespread flooding.

“We request immediate repair of damage caused by storm No. 6, and readiness of forces and means to respond to complex weather developments in the coming days,” said Mr. Ha Sy Dong.

Previously, since October 27, in Quang Tri, there has been heavy rain due to the impact of storm No. 6. In Quang Tri province, 2,555 houses were flooded; 308.85 hectares of crops and vegetables were flooded and damaged; more than 706.29 hectares of aquaculture were flooded and damaged...
