In the late afternoon of June 6, in an exchange with Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Tran Hoai Phuong, Director of the Northern Airport Authority, said that up to now, functional agencies have not yet verified the subject using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) appearing near Noi Bai airport area.
Currently, functional forces are still continuing to coordinate with the police to review and verify the origin and subjects controlling the aircraft to handle it in accordance with the law.
Previously, the Northern Airport Authority informed that a drone appeared near the Noi Bai International Airport area, affecting operations and posing a potential risk of aviation unsafety.
Accordingly, flight VJ1773 carrying out the Hanoi - Cam Ranh route took off from Noi Bai International Airport at 10:11 AM. When the aircraft was at an altitude of about 4,700 feet, about 8km from the airport, the flight crew detected a UAV flying in the opposite direction to the aircraft and reported information to the command station.
Immediately after that, at 10:15 am, Noi Bai Air Traffic Control Station temporarily stopped taking off for aircraft waiting to take off.
At the same time, the Northern Airport Authority and related units urgently coordinated with the Runway Safety Team, police and military forces to deploy verification. During the handling of the incident, 16 flights were affected.
By 11:13 am, the UAV no longer appeared in the area, and operations at Noi Bai airport were restored to normal.
Faced with the risk of aviation unsafety from unmanned aerial vehicles, functional agencies have launched a widespread communication campaign on flight safety regulations related to UAVs, flycams, drones and other flying objects.
According to legal regulations, airports, airports and the entire surrounding area are absolutely no-fly zones.
However, currently there are still many people using flying devices that do not comply with regulations for the purpose of filming, taking photos or serving personal entertainment needs.
Noi Bai International Airport recommends that people absolutely do not arbitrarily operate UAVs, drones, and flycams without permission.
All violations may be strictly handled according to regulations, with fines of up to 40 million VND and an additional penalty form of confiscating aircraft.
Functional agencies call on people in neighboring areas to raise awareness of law compliance, join hands to protect aviation safety and ensure safety for flights.
