There will be 3 major conferences to consult on the Draft Law held in 3 areas of Da Nang (26.2), Ho Chi Minh City (February 27) and Hanoi (March 5).
Previously, on February 18, the Ministry of Industry and Trade also sent a document to units to collect opinions on the draft Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Energy Saving and Efficient Use signed by Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hoang Long and sent to: the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, the National Assembly Delegations of provinces and centrally run cities; ministries, branches, localities, the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry; energy groups: National Energy Group (Petrovietnam), Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN), Vietnam National Petroleum Group (Petrolimex) to collect additional opinions on the draft Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Energy Saving and Efficient Use.
Regarding energy saving, on February 20, a discussion conference on the 2025 Work Plan of the JETP Secretariat was held and recommendations from partners on the implementation of the JETP project were discussed.
The Fair Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) is an international commitment, a political statement of Vietnam announced in December 2022, within the framework of cooperation between Vietnam and the International Partnership Group (IPG), including the G7 countries and Denmark and Norway. This agreement aims to support Vietnam in mobilizing 15.5 billion USD from public and private financial sources within 3-5 years on the energy transition journey.
Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hoang Long said that the Fair Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) is an international commitment, a political declaration of Vietnam issued in December 2022, within the framework of cooperation between Vietnam and the International Partnership Group (IPG), including the G7 countries and Denmark and Norway. This agreement aims to support Vietnam in mobilizing 15.5 billion USD from public and private financial sources within 3-5 years on the energy transition journey.
At the meeting, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hoang Long emphasized that after Vietnam's commitment at the Climate Change Summit (COP26), Vietnam has quickly concretized tasks and solutions to fulfill its commitments such as amending and promulgating a series of legal frameworks and policy mechanisms to remove difficulties and obstacles to promote energy transition projects, contributing to the goal of net zero emissions by 2050.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Lam Giang - Director of the Department of Energy Saving and Sustainable Development, Ministry of Industry and Trade informed about the synthesis work, including activities such as: Completing procedures for completing the Secretariat and issuing the Working Regulations and submitting the Secretariat to approve the JETP Appraisal and Supervision framework; organizing the review, evaluation and updating of the Resource Mobilization Plan to submit to the Prime Minister for consideration and decision.
