Heavy rain lasting from the night of June 30 to the morning of July 1 caused many areas in Cao Bang province to be deeply flooded. Can Yen Commune Police force was on duty throughout the night, rescuing trapped people and supporting the relocation of property out of dangerous areas.
According to information from local authorities, from about 1 am to 7 am on July 1, Can Yen Commune Police continuously received calls for help from people when floodwaters rose rapidly, cutting off many residential areas.

Immediately after receiving the news, the police force deployed working groups to the scene, despite heavy rain and strong currents to take people to safe places.
During the rescue, functional forces promptly rescued 3 people trapped, including a couple over 60 years old in Ban Ngam hamlet. The house of the two people is located next to a stream, isolated in the floodwaters.
In addition, a man over 60 years old in Phieng Pan hamlet was also approached by the police and taken out of the dangerous area when his house was surrounded by floodwaters amidst deeply flooded fields and swiddens.
Along with evacuating people, many valuable assets are also supported for relocation to limit damage caused by natural disasters.
According to initial statistics, floods have caused 41 households in Phieng Pan, Ta Cap, Na Pang, Ngoc Sy and Rac Ray hamlets to be flooded, with water levels in some places from 0.5-2m. About 20ha of crops were flooded, and more than 40ha of unplanted fields were buried.


By the morning of July 1st, Cao Bang province recorded more than 200 houses flooded, about 382 hectares of rice, corn and crops affected. Many traffic routes were damaged, initial damage is estimated at about 17 billion VND. Localities are continuing to statistically assess and implement remedial measures.
In Thong Nong commune, floodwaters also rose, causing 45 houses to be flooded, and many households had to urgently move people and property overnight.
Currently, Can Yen Commune Police continue to maintain 24/24 hour on-duty forces, coordinate with local authorities to review areas at risk of flooding and landslides, and be ready to support people in emergencies.
According to the meteorological agency, on July 1st day and night, the mountainous and midland areas of the Northern region, Quang Ninh and Hai Phong will continue to have rain from 30-70mm, with some places over 150mm, posing a risk of flash floods, landslides and flooding in low-lying areas, along rivers and streams.
