Hai Duong police bring back mentally ill man who ran away from home for 1 year

Hai Duong - Thanh Hong Commune Police, Thanh Ha District, Hai Duong Province brought a mentally ill woman who had run away from home for more than a year back to reunite with her family.

On the afternoon of October 3, Hai Duong Provincial Police said that at the end of September 2024, Thanh Hong Commune Police, Thanh Ha District, Hai Duong Province received a report from the people about discovering a person breaking into Mr. Vu Van Tung's house in Nhan Bau Village, Thanh Hong Commune.

Thanh Hong Commune Police quickly verified the report and invited the citizen to the Commune Police headquarters for questioning.

During the investigation and verification process, it was determined that the above citizen was Ms. Dinh Thi Mai (born in 1993, Tay ethnic group, permanent resident of Trung Vuong 1 village, Trung Hoa commune, Chiem Hoa district, Tuyen Quang province). Ms. Mai did not carry any property or identification documents and showed signs of mental illness including uncontrolled speech, not knowing who she was or where she came from.

From 9:30 p.m. on September 28 to 5:00 p.m. on September 30, Thanh Hong Commune People's Committee assigned the Commune Health Station to examine and treat, the Commune Women's Union to take care, and the Commune Police and grassroots security forces to ensure Ms. Mai's safety.

Thanh Hong Commune Police exchanged information with Trung Hoa Commune authorities, Chiem Hoa District, Tuyen Quang Province and Ms. Mai's family. Knowing that Ms. Mai's family was in difficult circumstances and to ensure her safety, on October 1, Thanh Hong Commune Police officers directly took Ms. Mai to the local authorities and her family in Chiem Hoa for care.

Receiving their daughter back in good health, Ms. Mai's family would like to express their deep gratitude to the departments, branches, and organizations, especially the Thanh Hong Commune Police, Thanh Ha District, who wholeheartedly helped, took care of her, and did not mind the long distance to bring Ms. Mai back to her family. According to Ms. Hoang Thi Ngoat - Ms. Mai's mother, Ms. Mai has a mental illness and has left home for more than a year. Her family has searched for her in many places but to no avail.
