On February 3, Kien Giang Provincial Police held a flower and incense offering ceremony to pay tribute and commemorate heroic martyrs at the National Historical Site of Security Department Zone IX.
The ceremony was held on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam, towards the 80th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the Vietnam People's Public Security Force, and the 20th anniversary of the National Day for National Security Protection.
To pay tribute and honor the great contributions of the heroic martyrs who sacrificed for the independence, freedom of the nation and to protect the Fatherland. At the same time, to educate police officers and soldiers, especially the younger generations, about the tradition of building, fighting and growing up of the People's Police force in general and the Security Department of Zone IX in particular.
After the incense offering ceremony, the delegates continued to attend the Inauguration Ceremony of the digitalization project of the National Historical Site of the Security Department of Zone IX and presented gifts to policy families, disadvantaged families and disadvantaged students organized by the Kien Giang Provincial Police in coordination with MobiFone Kien Giang.
At the program, 5 gifts were given to families with preferential policies, 20 gifts to poor families and 10 gifts to students in difficult circumstances, each worth 500,000 VND.
The Security Department of Zone IX was established in 1961, under the overall leadership of the Zone IX Party Committee and under the direct command of the Central Security Department of the Southern Region. The Zone IX Security Department organized the struggle to defeat all plots and activities of intelligence agencies, spies, and their henchmen and informants, to absolutely protect the revolutionary bases, to protect revolutionary movements, to protect the people, and to protect the high-ranking leaders of the Zone Party Committee. During 15 years of both consolidating and building forces and fighting, 5,507 officers and soldiers of the Zone IX Security Department heroically sacrificed their lives. Their blood and bones have added color to the national flag and are recorded in the heroic history of the Vietnamese people in general and of the People's Public Security force in particular.
