On May 18, after receiving information from people about the case of a person losing contact in the Khanh Hoi bridge area, Rach Ben Nghe, Xom Chieu ward, local functional forces quickly arrived at the scene to deploy verification and search and rescue work.
Immediately after that, the Fire and Rescue Team of Area 4 - Fire and Rescue Police Department (Ho Chi Minh City Police) coordinated with Xom Chieu Ward Police and related forces to organize the search for the victim. Because the area where the incident occurred had strong currents, wide search scope and complex underwater terrain, the unit reported to Command Center 114 to request additional specialized underwater rescue forces.

Upon receiving the dispatch order, the Fire and Rescue Team quickly deployed a task force of 12 officers and soldiers along with specialized vehicles and equipment to the scene to coordinate in performing the task. In-depth diving formations were deployed synchronously to expand the search scope, ensuring efficiency and absolute safety for the task force.
At about 8:45 am on the same day, functional forces found the victim and handed him over to local functional agencies to continue handling according to regulations.
In the process of performing tasks, officers and soldiers have to face many difficulties such as strong currents, limited visibility, riverbeds with many dangerous obstacles, muddy and slippery terrain and many waterway vehicles passing through the area. However, with a high sense of responsibility, close coordination between forces and in-depth professional skills, the search work has been deployed urgently, effectively and ensuring absolute safety for participating forces.
