This decision was made at a meeting on the morning of September 26 between the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense of Quang Ninh province and the People's Committee of Cam Pha city.
Accordingly, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested Cam Pha city to continue implementing ongoing safety measures, while ensuring policies to support people in terms of accommodation, living and studying.
In particular, the city needs to prevent people from returning to dangerous areas. Specialized units will coordinate to conduct detailed surveys in the landslide area to clearly identify the land cracks.
One month after declaring an emergency, Cam Pha city must submit a report on the results of investigation, survey, sampling and in-depth analysis to propose a safe treatment plan to ensure a stable life for the people.
Previously, due to the impact of storm No. 3 and storm circulation, the area west of Nga Hai hillside (group 7, zone 5, Quang Hanh ward) was at high risk of subsidence, threatening National Highway 18.
On the night of September 11, Quang Ninh province requested the urgent evacuation of 136 households from the dangerous area and arranged safe accommodation. Afterwards, the province also invited four specialized units to survey and monitor the landslide area.
The analysis results showed that the landslide was complex and deep, so experts recommended taking safety precautions. Cam Pha City has evacuated households and requested Quang Ninh Province to declare an emergency to completely handle the landslide risk.
