Overcoming the heat to stick to the construction site
On hot days, the coastal road project through the old Thai Binh province (now Hung Yen province) is still bustling with machinery and the tireless work of hundreds of engineers and workers, showing great determination to complete this key project.
Recorded by Lao Dong Newspaper reporters at the Red River overpass connecting the old Thai Binh province and the old Nam Dinh province (now the new Ninh Binh province), a group of workers in tight protective gear, sweating and soaking are quickly scraping the road. Each layer of asphalt is paved, which is also the time when workers work at full capacity to ensure quality.
Ms. Bui Thi Tra (worker at the construction site) said: "These days, the sun is already harsh at 7am, so we are sweating so much. Hot weather but we are still fully present. As construction workers, we are used to the sun and wind. When the sun is too strong, go to the hut or tree trunk to sit and relax, take the opportunity to chat, and encourage each other to overcome difficulties to complete assigned tasks.
Another worker shared: "On rainy and cool days, the construction progress is affected, sometimes the whole day can only work for a few hours and then have to take a break. Therefore, when it is the dry season, workers take advantage of the time to work to regain the previous progress. The weather is hot but we still balance the working hours appropriately.
Accelerating to the finish line
The coastal road project through the old Thai Binh province was approved by the Prime Minister to adjust the investment policy in Decision No. 192/QD-TTg dated January 20, 2025 with a total investment of over VND 4,800 billion.
Mr. Nguyen Trong Vinh - Deputy Director of the Management Board of Construction Investment Project No. 2 of Hung Yen province - said that up to now, the coastal road has completed more than 97% of the work. At this time, the contractor has concentrated all equipment, machinery and over 200 engineers and workers working at the construction site. In hot weather, to ensure the health of workers, the contractor has proactively adjusted working hours appropriately, reminding workers to take the initiative to rest.
After the coastal route is completed, the time to travel by car from Thai Binh Economic Zone to Cat Bi International Airport and Lach Huyen International Port (Hai Phong City) will be shortened to only 60 minutes, to Mong Cai Border Gate (Quang Ninh Province) to 180 minutes.
The project will contribute to promoting the economic development of the Northern coastal provinces and ensuring national security and defense. At the same time, expand development space, connect coastal areas with domestic economic centers and serve marine economic strategies.
