On February 25, in Thanh Duc ward, Vinh Long province, the Provincial Civil and Industrial Project Management Board organized the groundbreaking ceremony for package VL2-PW-1. 8 construction of Long Ho river embankment (ward 5 bank).
The Vinh Long City Urban Development and Climate Change Adaptation Capacity Enhancement Project is a key project, of great economic, social and environmental significance, contributing to reducing flooding and embellishing the central urban area.
According to Le Thanh Son - Director of the Provincial Civil and Industrial Project Management Board, the project belongs to group A, using IDA loans from the World Bank, non-refundable aid from the Dutch Government and local counterpart funds.
The total investment of the entire project is more than 4,083 billion VND, implemented in the 2021 - 2028 period, including 4 components with 13 construction packages. Up to now, the investor has signed contracts and deployed the construction of 5 packages.
Specifically, package VL2-PW-1.8 construction of Long Ho river embankment has a route length of more than 2,405m, total contract value of more than 224 billion VND, construction time of 615 days, expected to be completed by the end of October 2027.
The project is built in Thanh Duc ward to strengthen the ability to prevent landslides, reduce flooding, improve the landscape, create motivation for the development of riverside urban corridors, and improve the quality of life of people.
Representatives of the investor committed to closely coordinate with construction units, supervision consultants, implement technical procedures correctly, ensure quality, labor safety and progress according to signed contracts.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Dang Van Chinh - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Standing Vice Chairman of Vinh Long Provincial People's Committee - acknowledged the involvement of the entire political system, the coordination of departments, branches, localities and the consensus of the people, thereby creating conditions for the project to qualify for commencement on schedule.
He emphasized that the project is of great significance in sustainable urban development, contributing to completing infrastructure, improving the ability to adapt to climate change and embellishing the urban appearance.
To ensure the project is implemented effectively, ensuring progress and quality, he requested the investor to strengthen management and supervision of construction; comply with regulations on construction investment; proactively coordinate, promptly report, and propose solutions to remove arising difficulties.
Thanh Duc Ward People's Committee continues to coordinate and support the investor and construction unit, ensuring security and order, creating conditions for the project to be deployed continuously and safely.
Construction units need to mobilize sufficient resources, organize scientific construction, ensure progress, quality, labor safety and environmental sanitation; strive to complete on schedule and put it into operation soon.
He also hopes that people in the project area will continue to agree and coordinate with local authorities to facilitate the construction process.
Concluding his speech, Mr. Dang Van Chinh officially issued the commencement order for the construction package of the Long Ho River embankment (front of Ward 5).
At the ceremony, representatives of the contractor consortium presented 50 million VND to support social security in Thanh Duc ward, demonstrating the responsibility to accompany the locality in the project implementation process.
