In the first 6 months of 2024, widespread heat waves pushed up the demand for electricity, causing unusual developments, making the operation and production of electricity during the peak months of the dry season particularly stressful. However, in the following months, due to prolonged heavy rains in the North, hydropower plants were prioritized for mobilization, leading to Mong Duong Thermal Power Plant having to operate at low capacity, and at times not being able to mobilize all generators.
In particular, storm No. 3 (Yagi storm) made landfall in Quang Ninh, directly affecting the Company's operations. However, thanks to proactive prevention and timely response, the Company minimized the damage. Immediately after the storm, the Plant quickly restarted the generators, ensuring stable power supply to the system.
Along with that, domestic coal resources are decreasing, while fuel and material prices are increasing due to political instability in the world, which has greatly affected the production activities of Mong Duong Thermal Power Company.
Faced with this situation, the Company has proactively implemented many synchronous solutions to ensure stable and effective operation. Among them, improving discipline, operational capacity and focusing on technical management, reducing heat loss. Increasing the arrangement of leaders and technical staff to handle incidents and promoting the inspection and evaluation of furnace and machine operating parameters to quickly detect and fix abnormalities. Ensuring fuel and spare materials for production and maintaining environmental protection.
Thanks to the efforts and solidarity, as of December 12, 2024, Mong Duong Thermal Power Company has basically completed the production and business targets for 2024. The company ensures electricity supply during the peak dry season, making an important contribution to ensuring electricity supply for daily life and socio-economic development, avoiding power shortages like in 2023.
Regarding the future goals, the Company will continue to work with partners to ensure that coal fuel sources meet operational requirements and maintain coal inventories. Coordinate better with EPS repair units and contact NSMO to ensure optimal operating methods. Promote the implementation of measures to reduce heat loss and limit subjective incidents, striving to complete the 2025 electricity production plan.
