After Lao Dong Newspaper reflected on the longevity celebration ceremony on the afternoon of the 4th day of Tet in Do Xa residential group, Phu Ly ward (Ninh Binh), Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan, although 80 years old according to regulations, only received 500,000 VND in longevity money without being awarded a longevity certificate like other elderly people. The incident caused concern for the process of listing and reviewing at the grassroots level.
On the afternoon of February 22, Secretary of the Party Cell, Head of Do Xa residential group, along with representatives of the Elderly Association, Head of the Fatherland Front Work Committee, Veterans Association, and Women's Union, directly visited Ms. Lan, took responsibility for the shortcomings and handed over the longevity certificate.

We have visited the family, apologized and handed over the longevity certificate to Ms. Lan. We will seriously learn from experience and rectify the process to avoid similar errors" - Mr. Le Van Loi, Head of the residential group, admitted.
Sharing after receiving her birthday card back, Ms. Lan expressed her emotion when the matter was clarified.
I am very grateful to the government and the Branch for their concern and awarding longevity certificates. This is not only personal joy but also recognition and honor for the elderly. I hope the agencies will check carefully to avoid errors like before," Ms. Lan said.
Previously, Mr. Hoang Cao Liem, Chairman of Phu Ly Ward People's Committee, said that the longevity money (500,000 VND for 80-year-olds) has been fully implemented according to regulations, and the longevity certificate is implemented by the Elderly Association.
He emphasized: "Omissions in the listing stage will be directed to be overcome, ensuring fairness, avoiding omissions or confusions.
This incident shows the important role of the grassroots level in managing dossiers and lists of elderly people. Careless listing can directly affect the rights and honor of the elderly. Ward authorities and the Association system need to closely coordinate and closely supervise every step of implementation.
According to the Charter of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly, the longevity certificate signed by the Central Executive Committee aims to recognize and honor the elderly on the occasion of their special longevity (80, 85, 90...). This is an important spiritual activity, reminding the community of the value of caring for and respecting the elderly.
The timely handover of the longevity certificate to Ms. Lan is proof of the spirit of receptiveness, responsibility and coordination between the ward government and the grassroots level, and at the same time reminds management agencies to ensure the rights of the elderly, so that no one is missed.
