There have been accidents involving foreign tourists driving motorbikes in Phan Thiet, such as on November 23, 2024, a very serious accident occurred when 2 motorbikes collided head-on, causing 3 foreigners on the 2 motorbikes to be thrown onto the road, of which 2 died and 1 was injured.
In the early morning of October 26, a motorbike driven by a foreigner collided with a motorbike carrying a couple. All three people were taken to the emergency room, but one person died.
According to the Traffic Police - Order Team of Phan Thiet City Police, in response to the above situation, the unit has deployed a plan to patrol and control foreigners participating in traffic.
In particular, the traffic police force has arranged officers who can communicate in English and hired Russian interpreters to help overcome language barriers when working with violators.
Key tourist routes such as Nguyen Dinh Chieu, Nguyen Thong, and Vo Nguyen Giap have increased patrols and violations by foreigners are strictly handled.
