On the morning of March 15, along with voters nationwide, nearly 9.7 million voters in Ho Chi Minh City began to participate in voting for the election of National Assembly Deputies of the 16th term and People's Council Deputies at all levels for the 2026-2031 term.
This election takes place in a special context when Ho Chi Minh City has just expanded its scale after merging localities in Binh Duong and Ba Ria - Vung Tau (formerly).



Currently, the city has 168 communes, wards, and special zones with a population of more than 14 million people, of which nearly 9.7 million voters registered to participate in the election. Ho Chi Minh City is the locality with the largest number of voters participating in voting in the country.
Lao Dong's records from early morning at polling station No. 1 (An Khanh ward), voters were present in large numbers to exercise their citizen rights.

Attending the opening ceremony here were Mr. Le Hong Anh - former member of the Politburo, former Standing Secretary of the Secretariat and Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City.
After witnessing the inspection and sealing of the ballot boxes, Mr. Le Hong Anh and Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc directly exercised their citizen rights and responsibilities.

Voter Phan Tran Phuong Thanh (resident of An Khanh ward) shared her emotion after voting for the 4th ballot in her life: "I want to contribute to the joyful day of the whole country, personally voting for the delegate I trust most to represent the voice of the people at the State power agency".
Tran Hoang Anh (22 years old, final year student, residing in An Khanh ward) shared: "The first time holding a voter's ballot, I feel that I have really grown up and are more responsible to the city. Before leaving, I carefully read the action program of the candidates on the VNeID application. I expect the elected delegates to have breakthrough policies on startups and job support for new graduates like us".
In Ho Chi Minh City, the National Assembly level has 13 electoral units with 64 candidates, electing 38 deputies. The People's Council level has 208 candidates, electing 125 deputies. Voting starts from 7 am to 7 pm. Depending on the situation, the election team may decide to start earlier (not before 5 am) or end later (not past 9 pm).
