On the evening of August 17, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) provided information about the incident of Vietnam Airlines flight VN34, which occurred on August 15, 2026 at Munich International Airport (Germany).
Accordingly, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has sent a document to the Ministry of Construction reporting on the flight incident.
Reports from Vietnam Airlines Corporation and initial information collected show that flight VN34 with the planned route Munich International Airport (Germany) - Noi Bai International Airport (Hanoi) took off at 11:57 UTC (13:57 local time, 18:57 Vietnam time).
After takeoff, a warning appeared related to the aircraft hitting its tail on the runway and a tire pressure warning. The flight crew informed the air traffic controller and decided to return to Munich International Airport for technical inspection.
At the same time, coordinating with air traffic controllers and ground staff, it was decided to take all passengers off the plane by stairs and move them to the Terminal safely.
The aircraft was then received by ground units and brought to the parking lot for inspection, serving the assessment and investigation after the incident. All 271 passengers and 16 crew members were safe after the incident, no one was injured.
The CAAV said that, according to information from Vietnam Airlines, by the afternoon of August 16, all passengers had been arranged alternative route plans on Vietnam Airlines and other airlines.
In addition, Vietnam Airlines continues to support some passengers who need to adjust their routes to suit the actual situation. During the waiting time for the replacement flight, passengers are arranged accommodation, meals, travel and necessary support.
The CAAV also said that, according to Annex 13 (Annex 13) of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) stipulating international standards and recommendations on aircraft accident investigation, the German Aircraft Accident Investigation Authority is the agency responsible for investigating the cause of the incident.
Based on Decree 221/2026/ND-CP of the Government on Vietnamese Aviation Authorities and Aviation Safety Management, the Council for Investigation of Serious Incidents and Aircraft Accidents of Vietnam is responsible for coordinating and participating in the investigation of incidents.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam is contacting the Authorities investigating the incident and aircraft accident of Germany to coordinate and request to provide the fastest information about the incident and the investigation work.
