Rescue of 40,000-ton Petrolimex cargo ship in trouble at sea

    Navy ships successfully rescued the 40,000-ton cargo ship Petrolimex 11 and brought it to safe anchorage in Binh Thuan.

    On January 2, news from Submarine Brigade 189 (Navy), Ship 991 has successfully towed the Petrolimex 11 ship to the anchorage in Vinh Tan commune, Tuy Phong district, Binh Thuan province safely.

    Petrolimex 11 has a tonnage of over 40 thousand tons. At the time of the incident, there were 25 crew members on board Petrolimex 11 transporting goods for Vitaco company from Malaysia port to Hon Gai port, Ha Long city.

    When the ship was moving to the sea area about 20 nautical miles southeast of Cam Ranh City, Khanh Hoa Province, the steering system broke down and lost the ability to maneuver.

    Receiving the report, Ship 991 approached Ship Petrolimex 11 before towing the troubled cargo ship to the anchorage late at night on January 1.
