On the afternoon of November 2, Da Nang railway station said it had fixed the problem of a train derailing while passing Hai Van pass and reopened the route.

According to Mr. Nguyen Loc Nam - Head of Da Nang Station, passengers of trains SE5 and SE6 at Da Nang Station were transferred by 45-seat cars. The station arranged 4 cars departing from Da Nang Station to Lang Co Station (Thua Thien Hue Province), carrying 159 passengers. The trains on the pass continued their journey after the problem was resolved.

At the scene, many containers on the train were overturned and crushed against the rails. The location of the cargo train accident was quite dangerous, with Hai Van mountain cliff on one side and a deep abyss on the other, making rescue work very difficult.

The railway industry mobilized specialized cranes along with dozens of workers and technicians on duty at the scene to handle the incident, aiming to soon reopen the North-South railway line.
