Cargo ship carrying 14 people sinks in Binh Dinh waters

Binh Dinh - Transporting goods from Quang Ninh to Vung Tau, Hoa Lu 2 ship carrying 14 people had an accident and sank at sea.

On December 21, information from the Quy Nhon Port Border Guard Station (Binh Dinh Province Border Guard) said that they had received 14 people on a cargo ship that had an accident and sank while traveling through the waters of Binh Dinh Province.

Previously, at 10:00 p.m. on December 20, the Quy Nhon Port Border Guard Station received information from the Quy Nhon Maritime Port Authority that the Hoa Lu 2 ship (belonging to Ninh Binh Transport and Trading Company Limited) transporting 12,274 tons of clinker from Quang Ninh to Vung Tau had an accident at sea. The ship was carrying 12 crew members and 2 passengers.

While moving to a position near Con Trau Island (in the waters of Binh Dinh province), Hoa Lu 2 ship encountered an incident of water entering the cargo hold, causing the ship to tilt, and the captain had to declare abandonment of the ship.

Quy Nhon Maritime Port Authority mobilized ship Nhat Chau 289 to approach and rescue crew members and passengers on Hoa Lu 2 ship.

At 11:00 p.m., the Nhat Chau 289 ship successfully rescued and brought 14 people safely to Quy Nhon port.

By the morning of December 21, Quy Nhon Maritime Port Authority had handed over 14 people to the provincial Border Guard force for further handling according to regulations.
