On February 16 (ie, the 29th of Tet), the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center announced that it had successfully rescued a foreign crew member who was seriously ill on the oil tanker GULF LOYALTY while the ship was traveling through the waters of Khanh Hoa province.
Previously, at 11:28 PM on February 15, the Center received urgent information from the oil tanker GULF LOYALTY (Marshall Islands nationality, tonnage 316. 373 tons), which was en route from Singapore to China.
When the ship was about 100 nautical miles southeast of Nha Trang ward (Khanh Hoa province), there was a Georgian crew member (born in 1999) on board who was seriously ill, swollen for many days, and his health condition was complicated.
The captain of the GULF LOYALTY ship immediately contacted and requested Vietnamese functional forces to provide emergency rescue support.
Immediately after receiving the information, the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center organized remote medical consultation, guiding the crew members on board to implement initial care and treatment measures to stabilize the patient's condition before the rescue force approached.
The Center has reported to the National Civil Defense Committee and the Vietnam Maritime and Waterway Administration, agreeing on a plan to guide GULF LOYALTY ships to the fastest route to the Nha Trang area.
At the same time, specialized search and rescue vessel SAR 273, on duty in Nha Trang, was urgently dispatched to the scene to perform the task.
By 8:00 AM on February 16, SAR vessel 273 had approached the GULF LOYALTY vessel in the area off the coast of Nha Trang waters.
