Bringing 7 children at Cam La Pagoda back to their families and the Social Assistance Center

Quang Ninh - As of January 14, 7 children at Cam La Pagoda, Phong Coc ward, Quang Ninh province have been handed over to their families and the Social Assistance Center.

Regarding the incident at Cam La Pagoda (Phong Coc ward), information from the Quang Ninh Department of Health and the People's Committee of Phong Coc ward, Cam La Pagoda has been determined by functional agencies as not meeting the conditions for centralized childcare according to the provisions of law.

According to verification, there are 11 children being cared for and nurtured by the pagoda. Among them, 3 children were adopted by the abbot, 1 child born in 2023 was named by the teacher, is in the process of receiving custody and will still stay at the pagoda.

For the remaining 7 children, on January 12 and 13, 2 children were handed over to their families.

This morning (January 14), 3 more children were handed over to their families in the presence of the working delegation of the Department of Health and local authorities; the remaining 2 children were also taken to the Quang Ninh Provincial Social Assistance Center for care and nurturing in accordance with regulations.

Functional agencies have requested Cam La Pagoda to stop posting images and videos related to children on social networking platforms. Information and communication about the pagoda's activities must comply with the provisions of law on child protection, and not reveal the identity or images of children.
