On the morning of July 24, Mr. Mac Van Toi - Chairman of the People's Committee of Son Thuy commune, Thanh Hoa province - confirmed that a large rock slide had just occurred in the area from the cliff to the people's plantation forest.

According to Mr. Toi, the incident occurred at around 6:00 p.m. on July 23, on a cliff about 2-3km from the residential area and the road, in the border area between Trung Son village and Xuan Thanh (Son Thuy commune).
At that time, thousands of cubic meters of rock suddenly slid down from above, making a loud noise and creating a column of smoke and dust rising in the forest. A nearby resident heard and used his phone to record the incident.
"This is a mountainous area far from residential land, with no stone mining activities. Below is the people's stream forest. Immediately after receiving the information, we were present at the scene but due to the darkness, we could not reach it. Through preliminary assessment, no damage to people and property has been recorded. This morning (July 24), the locality will continue to conduct field inspections to grasp the situation" - Mr. Toi informed.
According to the leader of Son Thuy commune, the area where the incident occurred had previously recorded landslides, however, the previous times were small and not as serious as this time.
It is known that the cause of the landslide may be due to prolonged rain due to the impact of storm No. 3 (Wipha).
