As one of the key transport projects of Bac Kan province (now Thai Nguyen province), the Quang Khe - Khang Ninh route connecting to Ba Be Lake tourist area is expected to promote local tourism and economic development.
The project has a total length of more than 17km, built according to the standards of a grade IV mountainous road with a total investment of 439 billion VND. The project investor is the Bac Kan Province Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (old).

However, after completion, landslides appeared in some sections of the route, posing a potential risk to the safety of people and vehicles passing through.
The Quang Khe - Khang Ninh route plays a role in connecting with local artery routes, which is of great significance in the socio-economic development and tourism of Ba Be Lake area.
However, due to complex mountainous terrain and many high slopes, the risk of landslides is always present, especially during the rainy season.

Recorded in the area bordering Na Kieng village and Na Co village, Ba Be commune (Thai Nguyen), rocks and soil from the mountain slid down the roadside.
Some large foundations have been drilled and relocated, but there are still rocks hanging and tossing on the slope, causing people to worry and feel insecure every time they pass.
Regularly traveling on this route, Mr. Nguyen Van Sang (Ba Be) said that the landslide phenomenon has appeared for a while, mainly in locations with high slopes and weak geological foundations.
"During the rainy season, the risk of rocks and soil overflowing onto the road is always present, causing traffic obstruction and potential safety risks.
Every time I pass by, I am very worried, hoping for a solution soon to ensure safety," said Mr. Sang.

Located not far away, on the route from the old Bac Kan city to Ba Be lake, landslides have also occurred in many locations.
The area through Tong Chao village, Dong Phuc commune is nearly Km30, after heavy rains, rocks and soil have overflowed onto the road.
The road has many steep passes, high cliffs, and vertical points. If landslides occur, it will obstruct traffic and threaten the safety of road users.
The Bac Kan City - Ba Be Lake route started construction at the end of November 2021, with a scale of a grade III, grade IV mountainous road, designed speed from 40 - 60km/h.
The starting point is at Km0+000 intersecting with National Highway 3B, in Bac Kan ward. The end point is at Km39+00, Hua Ma Cave area, Dong Phuc commune.

Also at Km31+100 of Provincial Road 258 in Cho Ra Commune (formerly Dia Linh Commune, Ba Be District), a serious landslide occurred before, causing rocks and soil to overflow onto the road, posing many potential risks during the rainy season.
This is the route connecting the district center with the old Bac Kan city, playing an important role in transportation and cargo transportation.
Previously, information from the Department of Construction of Bac Kan province (now the Department of Construction of Thai Nguyen province), in response to the above situation, the unit has directed the professional department to coordinate with the consultant to conduct a survey, determine the volume of soil and rock and develop a remedial plan.
Local authorities will continue to monitor, warn and regulate traffic in risky areas to ensure the safety of people and vehicles.
