On March 19, the People's Committee of Da Nang City announced that it had issued a decision approving the Project to Adjust the planning of the city's solid waste treatment until 2030, with a vision to 2045. This decision aims to concretize the orientation of solid waste treatment planning in the Adjustment of the general planning of Da Nang city until 2030, with a vision to 2045, which has been approved by the Prime Minister. The planning scope with an estimated population of about 1.79 million people in 2030 and 2.56 million people in 2045.
According to the recently issued decision, 100% of households and schools will classify solid waste at source, and over 97% of the total amount of domestic solid waste generated will be collected and treated to meet standards. The burial rate after treatment will not exceed 20%. For industrial, medical and construction solid waste, 100% of the generated amount will be collected and treated to ensure requirements.
The plan also emphasizes the enhancement of socialization in the collection, transportation and treatment of solid waste. At the same time, encourage economic sectors to invest in this field. Investing in a synchronous solid waste management system, including building a treatment facility and a collection and transportation system, is also one of the important goals.
In particular, Da Nang will prioritize the application of non-burning, environmentally friendly treatment technology, meeting the requirements of environmental protection in the treatment of infectious medical waste. At the same time, it will strengthen the co-treatment of hazardous waste, industry and daily life. The plan also encourages cooperation and linkage of organic solid waste treatment for animal feed, poultry and organic fertilizer.
Da Nang will also invest in the construction of new and upgrading of transit works and solid waste treatment. The project to upgrade and renovate the Khanh Son solid waste treatment complex - phase 2 and build the Eastern solid waste treatment area is also on the priority list. The city will also invest in building domestic, industrial, medical, construction and sludge treatment plants with a total capacity of up to thousands of tons/day.
