The People's Committee of Da Nang City has issued Document No. 154/QD-UBND approving the Da Nang - City of Innovation Project. The project aims to build Da Nang into a large, ecological, smart, unique, sustainable urban area, an international tourism center associated with an international event center, a high-tech industrial center, information technology, a startup, innovation center, and a regional-scale international financial center. The total cost of implementing the project is more than 65 billion VND.
According to the People's Committee of Da Nang City, to build the Da Nang - Innovative City Project, Da Nang has 5 elements: Having a system of policies specific to innovation and applying science and technology (S&T) to socio-economic development, Having a system of infrastructure and conditions, natural, economic - social, sufficient to meet the needs of innovation, Having an educational foundation, science and technology worthy of innovation, Building a close connection between the subjects, Government - Education/Training - S&T - Enterprises, Building a culture, entrepreneurial spirit - S&T to each citizen, enterprise, state management agency.
By 2030, the Da Nang - City of Innovation Project aims to upgrade the innovation ecosystem of Da Nang city to an international level, equivalent to some major innovation ecosystems in Southeast Asia. The locality will also support the development of at least 200 innovative startup projects; 100 innovative startup enterprises. By 2030, investment capital in innovative startups and innovative startup projects in Da Nang will increase by about 6 to 7 trillion VND (equivalent to 300 million USD) compared to 2025.
In addition, Da Nang encourages the establishment of innovative startup investment funds, attracting 3-5 more venture capital funds to set up representative offices in Da Nang city. Encourage over 50% of university and college graduates from schools in Da Nang city to participate in training on startups and innovative startups.
Regarding intellectual property development, the number of applications and certificates of protection for inventions, industrial designs, trademarks, and plant varieties continues to increase (in the period 2025 - 2030, the number of applications and certificates will increase by about 1.5 times compared to the period 2021 - 2025). Priority areas in this Project include: Information and communication technology (ICT); High-tech industry, green technology; Biotechnology and medicine; Circular economy, marine economy and logistics services; Smart tourism; Creative industry.
