On August 29, the Da Nang City Civil Defense Command sent a document to relevant departments, branches, localities and units on proactively responding to heavy rain, floods, inundation, flash floods and landslides.
According to the Central Hydrometeorological Station, on the morning of August 29, the tropical depression in the Southeast sea of Hoang Sa island had the strongest wind near the center reaching level 6-7 (39-61km/h), gusting to level 9, moving northwest.
It is forecasted that from the afternoon of August 29 to August 31, Da Nang will have moderate rain, heavy rain, some places with very heavy rain, common rainfall of 70-150mm, some places over 250mm. There is a high risk of flash floods, landslides in mountainous areas and flooding in low-lying areas and urban areas.
The City Civil Defense Command requires departments, branches, People's Committees of districts and wards to deploy storm prevention plans, be ready to relocate and evacuate people in dangerous areas; inspect and review works and areas at risk of landslides and flooding.
The Department of Construction and the Department of Agriculture and Environment coordinate to ensure the safety of the dam system, irrigation works, and hydropower works; promptly notify the people of response measures when an incident occurs. The Department of Culture - Sports - Tourism, localities increase warnings at tourist areas, entertainment areas, beaches, ensure safety for tourists and infrastructure when natural disasters occur.
In addition, police, military and functional units are required to arrange forces and means to guard and control traffic in areas with deep flooding and landslides, absolutely not allowing people and vehicles to pass when safety is not guaranteed.
The City Civil Defense Command also requested units to regularly update weather conditions, promptly report and proactively deploy preventive measures to minimize damage.
