Da Nang discovers martyrs' remains and many artifacts in Tra Giap commune

Da Nang - Functional forces have just discovered a martyr's remains and many artifacts in the hill area of hamlet 1, Tra Giap commune.

On September 9, functional forces of Tra Giap commune, Da Nang city coordinated with the Repatriation Team under the Da Nang City Military Command (CHQS) to organize the search, excavation and discovery of a martyr's remains in the hill area of hamlet 1.

Previously, the Military Command of Tra Giap commune received information provided by Mr. Pham Xuan Tuan, born in 1968, residing in hamlet 1. According to the family's account, around 1975, a medical station unit of Military Region 5 was stationed in this area. Around 1977, when returning to settle down, the family discovered a grave located about 100m from the location where the unit used to be stationed, with a soldier's pith helmet on the head of the grave.

After receiving information, the Military Command of the commune coordinated with local authorities, families and relevant forces to conduct surveys, determine locations, and organize searches.

During the excavation, functional forces discovered 1 set of remains lying in a completely decomposed nylon bag, consisting of only 24 teeth and many artifacts such as: 1 belt, 1 pencil tip, 1 American War Insurgent badge, 1 tweezer, 18 buttons, shirt, pants and some pieces of rotten clothes.

The scene and all remains and artifacts have been protected, collected and strictly managed by functional forces. The Da Nang City Military Command is directing agencies and units to continue verifying information, completing dossiers, clarifying units and martyrs' identities; and at the same time carrying out the next steps in accordance with regulations.
