Vice Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee - Ms. Nguyen Thi Anh Thi has just signed and issued an official dispatch on organizing periodic health check-ups and screening for people according to Directive 17 of the Prime Minister. Da Nang City identifies this as a key and long-term task, associated with the goal of social security and improving the quality of life.
The Department of Health is assigned to take the lead in developing health check-up plans for each target group. In which, priority is given to people with meritorious services, the elderly, people with disabilities, poor households, near-poor households, people with chronic diseases, people in difficult areas, mountainous areas, and islands.
According to Resolution 72, from 2026, people will have periodic health check-ups or free screenings at least once a year. By 2030, people will be exempt from hospital fees at the basic level within the scope of health insurance benefits according to the roadmap.
Currently, many medical facilities in Da Nang have implemented free examination programs. At Son Tra Regional Medical Center, from Wednesday to Friday every week, they organize free respiratory, eye and prenatal examinations for people. Through screening, many cases of respiratory diseases such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease have been detected early.
Da Nang Hospital also organizes free health check-ups and consultations for people in Hai Chau ward, prioritizing the elderly and people in difficult circumstances. People are examined in many specialties and undergo paraclinical tests such as X-rays, ultrasounds, electrocardiograms, and blood sugar tests.
Meanwhile, Da Nang Lung Hospital maintains free respiratory disease screening on Friday afternoons every week. Priority is given to people over 40 years old at high risk such as smoking, exposure to smoke, dust, chemicals or having symptoms of shortness of breath, prolonged cough.
The city's health sector also strengthens propaganda to raise community awareness about the role of periodic health check-ups, early detection of diseases and proactive health care.
