Da Nang commemorates and buries 17 sets of remains of martyrs

Da Nang - On September 17, at Tan Binh Martyrs' Cemetery, Hiep Duc commune, a memorial service and burial ceremony for 17 sets of remains of martyrs exhumed in a mass grave took place.

Previously, on September 15, Da Nang city functional forces organized excavation and exhumation of martyrs' remains at a mass grave in Go Cao village, Thu Bon commune. After that, the remains were taken to Tan Binh Martyrs' Cemetery for memorial service and burial.

Information about the tomb was provided by Mr. Vo Dinh The, a businessman in Ho Chi Minh City, from Duy Tan commune, Da Nang city. In 1988, during the construction of a project at the foot of Tranh hill, An Dong village, Hiep Duc commune, Mr. The discovered many remains.

In 2019, Mr. Vo Dinh The moved the remains to be buried in the Go Cao area, Thu Bon commune and organized worship.

From this source of information, the Da Nang City Military Command conducted verification and review of records. Functional forces met with witnesses and veterans who fought in Hiep Duc area.

Initial information shows that the remains may be related to officers and soldiers of the special forces of Division 2, Military Region 5, who sacrificed in 1970.

During the excavation, the task force discovered many artifacts such as parachute ropes, hammock fabric, leather wallets, brushes and some related traces. The artifacts basically coincide with Mr. Vo Dinh The's story about the process of discovering, exhuming and burying the remains nearly 40 years ago.
