Slanderous and distorted arguments intentionally distorting the truth in cyberspace
Hostile and reactionary forces always thoroughly exploit human rights issues, constantly using distorted rhetoric, falsely accusing Vietnam of violating basic human rights, religious freedom, discrimination; arresting and detaining many "political prisoners", "conscience prisoners"... Thereby, distorting and smearing the special amnesty work, aiming to undermine the prestige of our Party and State to the people and the international community.
At the same time, the above subjects also made demands for the State to grant special amnesty and imprisonment "unconditionally" to prisoners who are labeled as "political prisoners", "conscience prisoners" who are actually committing crimes of infringing national security, being sentenced to prison for crimes such as "the crime of establishing or participating in organizations to overthrow the people's government", "the crime of propaganda against the Socialist Republic of Vietnam", "the crime of abusing democratic freedoms to infringe upon the interests of the State, the legitimate rights and interests of organizations and individuals"...
The distorted and false accusations in reality are methods and tricks, a conspiracy of "peaceful evolution" against Vietnam's humanitarian policy.
Lively proof of ensuring human rights in Vietnam
Currently, Vietnam is one of the countries actively and proactively participating in most international conventions on human rights issued by the United Nations and other international organizations. International conventions on human rights that Vietnam is a member of, Vietnam is committed to implementing through efforts to internalize international principles and standards on human rights; ensuring harmony between national law and international law. The 2013 Constitution, along with laws and codes of law promulgated, creates a legal framework for respecting, promoting and protecting human rights in all areas of social life.
Special amnesty is the special leniency of the State decided by the President to grant early parole to people sentenced to imprisonment for a fixed term, life imprisonment on the occasion of an important event, a major holiday of the country, or in special cases. To further affirm and show the tradition of compassion and tolerance of the Vietnamese nation, the leniency policy of our Party and State towards people sentenced to imprisonment who have repented, actively studied, worked to reform and progress, hoping to soon enjoy leniency and become useful people for their families and society. Special amnesty is one of the legal institutions stipulated in Article 88 of the Constitution, institutionalized by the Law on Special Amnesty in 2018. From 2009 to now, the President has signed 10 decisions on special amnesty for nearly 100,000 prisoners who have had a process of reform, labor, and good study returning to their families and communities to become useful citizens for society.
Most of the people who were granted amnesty and returned quickly reintegrated into the community, have a stable life and do honest work, many of whom have become successful businessmen or actively participate in social activities in the locality. Recently, the Presidential Office held a press conference to announce the President's decision on amnesty in 2026. Accordingly, the President decided to grant amnesty to 9,950 prisoners serving imprisonment who are eligible for amnesty in 2026.
The results in the amnesty campaigns have been agreed upon and supported by the people, and highly appreciated by international public opinion, which further affirms the consistent policies and guidelines of the Party, State and law in promoting and protecting human rights in a fair and equal manner.
