The role of the village elders and prestigious people
According to statistics, the whole district of Krong Nang currently has 1,322 Party members who are ethnic minorities, accounting for 25.51% of the total number of Party members in the district.
In the District Party Committee Executive Committee, 8/41 cadres are ethnic minorities (19.51%), while the District Party Committee Standing Committee has 2/11 cadres who are ethnic minorities (18.1%).

In particular, the whole district still has nearly 80 village elders, who are prestigious in the locality. This is an important force, contributing to orienting and effectively implementing development policies, especially in ethnic minority areas in the locality.
Thanks to that great potential, Krong Nang district aims to have no more ethnic minority students drop out of school by 2029; 100% of households have access to electricity, clean water for daily life; preserve and promote traditional cultural values of ethnic groups.

To realize the set goals, the team of cadres working in ethnic affairs at the grassroots level plays a particularly important role.
Mr. Ho Minh Tuy - Head of the Ethnic Affairs Department of Krong Nang District - affirmed: "Effective implementation of national target programs requires the active participation of cadres at all levels, along with the support of village elders and prestigious people in the community".
Each cadre, village chief, prestigious person... needs to be exemplary, responsible, and dedicated in their work. They are the driving force to help people change their awareness, eliminate bad customs, develop the economy and escape poverty sustainably, Mr. Ho Minh Tuy emphasized.

M'Drak district currently has nearly 60 prestigious people accompanying and supporting local authorities in implementing hunger eradication and poverty reduction work, developing the economy of ethnic minority areas.
Ms. H'Cua Mlo - President of the Women's Union of Ea Trang commune (M'Drak district) said: "The child marriage incident has caused pain for a long time. To propagate and mobilize women, it is necessary to have an extended arm of village heads, villagers, and prestigious people at the grassroots level".
According to Ms. H'Cua Mlo, there are households and functional agencies that have been mobilizing and propagating continuously but cannot help their families stay warm and home.
"But when a prestigious person comes to the house together, the people immediately listen and agree to live together in harmony, taking care of economic development," Ms. H'Cua Mlo shared.

Focus on training and fostering successors
Mr. Tran Minh Chau - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Krong Nang district emphasized that in recent times, the district has sent dozens of prestigious people, village elders... to visit and learn from production and mass mobilization experiences in many localities inside and outside the province.
"Krong Nang District always pays attention, supports and has practical treatment policies for this force" - Mr. Tran Minh Chau affirmed.

Mr. Y Chen Mlo - Head of the Ethnic and Religious Affairs Department of M'Drak district - affirmed: "The locality always focuses on training and promoting the role of cadres, village elders, and prestigious people, while paying attention to implementing appropriate support policies to promptly encourage them during their work".
Mr. Nghiem Van Chuan - Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Dak Lak Provincial Party Committee - expressed his opinion: "In the coming time, local Party committees and authorities need to pay attention to the core forces at the grassroots level, building a generation of village elders, prestigious people, village chiefs, and near-est businessmen".

According to Mr. Chuan, the regulations of the Party and the State always require authorities at all levels to pay attention to and focus resources on building and nurturing the force of village elders and prestigious people.
They must be qualified, close to the people, close to the people, understand the aspirations of the people to promptly support when needed. Thereby, it becomes a bridge to create a bridge between the Party, the government and the people.
"The work of leading, directing, caring for, nurturing, and building a force of village elders and prestigious people must be continuously implemented, not stopped. Authorities at all levels need to spend time and resources to train the village elders and prestigious people to meet the requirements and tasks set out in the new situation," Mr. Chuan added.
