Dak Lak organizes inter-sectoral rallies and drills to prevent rabies

Dak Lak - It is expected that more than 1,000 delegates will attend the Meeting and inter-sectoral drill for national rabies prevention and control in 2026 in the locality.

On September 20th, the Department of Health of Dak Lak province informed that on September 26th, the locality will organize a meeting and inter-sectoral drill for national rabies prevention and control in 2026.

The event is organized with the theme "Joining hands to prevent and combat rabies - For the goal of no more deaths from rabies by 2030".

According to the plan of the Department of Health of Dak Lak province, the program aims to raise awareness and responsibility of all levels, sectors, local authorities and people in preventing and combating rabies according to the One Health approach.

The activity also contributes to improving the capacity of the health system and inter-sectoral forces in detecting, monitoring, investigating, and handling rabies events and outbreaks; and at the same time organizing vaccination for people and animals.

It is expected that the event will have about 1,070 delegates and guests attending.

The highlight of the program is the inter-sectoral rabies prevention and control drill, taking place from 8:45 AM to 11:30 AM with 4 contents.

The forces will practice verifying events, coordinate investigation, supervision and handle cases of dogs suspected of having rabies biting people; deploy rabies vaccination for dogs and cats.

In addition, the program includes drills to handle cases of people bitten by dogs suspected of rabies coming for vaccination at the Vaccination Center of the Tay Nguyen Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology; practicing meetings of the Steering Committee for Epidemic Prevention and Control to direct and manage the handling of outbreaks after positive test results.

Mr. Huynh Le Xuan Bich - Deputy Director of Dak Lak Provincial Department of Health - said that the drill activities are organized at many locations in Buon Ma Thuot ward, including the Provincial Culture - Tourism Center, the Vaccination Center and the Training Center of the Tay Nguyen Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology.

The program also has a situation of investigating people exposed and taking samples of animals suspected of having rabies at people's homes.

Through the event, Dak Lak province aims to strengthen coordination between the health sector, veterinary medicine, local authorities and people; promote propaganda, management, and full vaccination for dogs and cats and proactively handle when bitten, scratched or lick by suspected rabid animals.
