On July 12, the Dak Lak Provincial Center for Disease Control (CDC) informed that from the beginning of 2025 to now, the whole province has recorded 1,410 cases of dengue fever.
Cases appeared in 24 areas, down 9.6% over the same period in 2024 (1,559 cases) and there were no deaths.
According to the CDC Dak Lak, dengue fever is an annual disease in the province. In particular, there are some years that record high numbers of cases such as: 2019 had 27,884 cases, 4 deaths; 2022 had 14,994 cases and 13 deaths.
Mr. Hoang Hai Phuc - Director of the CDC of Dak Lak province said: "According to statistics, the peak dengue fever epidemic cycle in the province is 3 years. 2025 is expected to be the peak year of the epidemic, and the disease can become complicated if there are no timely interventions.
According to Mr. Phuc, the characteristics of heavy rain and many areas with overgrown trees are favorable conditions for mosquito development, increasing the risk of outbreaks.
In addition, some localities still lack strong direction from authorities at all levels in epidemic prevention and control.
People are still subjective in applying personal disease prevention measures, the mentality of relying on and waiting on the government is still common. In addition, the personal hygiene and environmental hygiene habits of a large part of the people are not guaranteed.
From now until the end of 2025, the health sector will continue to conduct monthly vector monitoring, monitoring stick bedbugs in key communes and wards at risk of outbreaks.
The authorities will monitor and strictly handle cases and outbreaks from the beginning, not allowing the epidemic to spread.
The health sector will also organize training, supervision and response training for dengue prevention and control for grassroots health workers.
