On February 17, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Dak Nong province published the content of the consultation report on environmental impact assessment for the Dak Nut B filling soil mine exploitation project, in Nghia Duc ward, Gia Nghia city.
Within 15 days, the department will receive comments on the project location, environmental impact, mitigation measures and environmental recovery plans. Opinions from individuals, agencies, and organizations will be compiled and consultation results will be sent to the project owner.
Previously, Construction Corporation No. 1 - JSC submitted an environmental impact assessment report, proposing to exploit land with a capacity of 400,000m3 per year.
This is the contractor of the Gia Nghia City Central Square Project and has completed the procedures to request exploration and exploitation of minerals at Dak Nut B mine since September 2024.
The purpose of exploitation is to provide filling materials for this project. The Department of Natural Resources and Environment has met and agreed on the exploitation boundary with an area of nearly 4.7 hectares.
If licensed, Dak Nut B will be the first landfill mine in Dak Nong to be exploited as construction materials according to regulations.
This land mine not only meets the demand for fill for the Central Square but also serves other public works.
Previously, Lao Dong Newspaper reported on the Gia Nghia City Central Square Project, with a total investment of 400 billion VND. This is a key project of Dak Nong province, towards the 20th anniversary of the province's re-establishment (January 1, 2024).
The project is located in Nghia Duc ward, Gia Nghia city, with a total area of 18.58 hectares, affecting 210 households. The project started construction at the end of 2022, expected to be completed by the end of 2023, but to date it has not been completed due to two major unresolved problems.
One of the main difficulties is that the project is lacking about 210,000m3 of fill soil. Recently, the investor has coordinated with the construction contractor to complete the environmental impact assessment procedures and prepare a dossier for land exploitation at Dak Nut B hill to solve this problem.
