On the afternoon of March 1, rescue work after the railway accident between the cargo ship D18E 60 and the truck with license plate 26C 03288 in Duc Lien commune, Vu Quang district (near Hoa Duyet station) is still being carried out.
Mr. Kieu Dinh Ai - Head of Hoa Duyet Station (Nghe Tinh Railway Company) - said that organizing the rescue of the locomotive and 3 carriages of the overturned cargo ship after the collision with the truck took a lot of time.
Because the area where the accident occurred was a mountainous area with rugged terrain, making rescue difficult. When the crane arrived, it took at least 5-6 hours to move the locomotive and 3 cargo cars out of the track.
In addition to the overturned cargo ship, a 70m long rail section was also blown off the roadbed. To be able to re- handle the railway, Nghe Tinh Railway Company must wait for the locomotive, 3 cargo cars are taken out of the incident area to calculate the safety handling plan.
Because the North-South railway line through Duc Lien commune, Vu Quang district was paralyzed, Nghe Tinh Railway Company had to move a car to transfer passengers between Thanh Luyen (Huong Khe) and Yen Trung (Duc Tho) stations.
Mr. Le Thanh - Head of Yen Trung Station - said that by the afternoon of March 1, the unit had organized the transfer of 433 passengers of the two passenger trains SE7 and SE8.
"From now until the end of the night, the two stations will also transfer passengers to 6 passenger trains. In case tomorrow, the problem has not been resolved, the passenger transportation will continue," Mr. Thanh shared.
As Lao Dong reported, at around 8:20 a.m., on the people's border crossing with the railway in Duc Lien commune, an accident occurred between a cargo ship D18E 607 traveling from South to North and a truck with license plate 26C 03288 crossing the road.
The accident caused the front of the truck to deform, and the train to overturn. The train driver suffered minor injuries, the truck driver was lucky to escape and was not injured.
After the accident, the authorities were present to investigate the cause.
