At the 17th Conference of the Dak Nong Provincial Party Executive Committee, term XII, term 2020 - 2025, which took place on the afternoon of October 3, forest management and protection work received great attention.
According to the report, in the first 9 months of 2024, the province had 225 violations of the Forestry Law. Of these, 134 were deforestation cases with a damaged area of 31.28 hectares, an increase of 37.8% (8.58 hectares) compared to the same period in 2023.
Mr. Pham Tuan Anh, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Dak Nong province, explained that the increase in deforestation is also due to the increase in prices of agricultural products, which has led to many people destroying forests and expanding production areas. One of the hot spots in terms of deforestation and re-encroachment of forest land is Dak G’long district.
Mr. Vu Tien Lu, Secretary of Dak G'long District Party Committee, said that despite implementing many synchronous and drastic solutions, deforestation is still complicated.
To date, the district has had 116 cases of deforestation, an increase of 21 cases compared to 2023, and the area has increased by over 4 hectares. The forest area in the district is scattered and not concentrated, making it difficult to protect. To minimize deforestation, Mr. Vu Tien Lu said that the locality continues to be determined, resolute and implement many synchronous solutions to minimize deforestation.
Besides, Mr. Lu suggested that the provincial authorities strengthen coordination to minimize the area of deforestation.
