On November 17, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine of Gia Lai province said that the unit had received test results from the Department of Veterinary Medicine of Region 5 on samples of sick pigs taken in Mun village, Ia Ly town, Chu Pah district.
Test results showed that the pigs were positive for African swine fever virus. Gia Lai Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine coordinated with specialized agencies and Ia Ly town to destroy the remaining pigs distributed to people in 2 epidemic areas in Van and Mun villages (Ia Ly town).
Authorities also carried out large-scale disinfection to destroy pathogens and limit widespread spread.
On the other hand, the commune and town authorities also propagate for people to have measures to safely isolate livestock facilities and prevent sources of infection.
Previously, in October 2024, the People's Committee of Ia Ly town, Chu Pah district implemented Project 2 under the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction.
