The unit used a flycam to record remotely the herd of red-crowned crane when they landed in search of food. Yesterday (March 11), the unit discovered 4 red-crowned cranes landing in the rice field to earn food. Thus, for 2 consecutive days, 13 Red-crowned Cranes have returned to the reserve, Mr. Tuan said.
The favorite food of red-crowned cranes is the bulbs, in addition to catching fish, snails... in the fields, so they land in the rice fields of the people to prepare for harvest. Compared to previous years, the crab has returned to Phu My nearly a month earlier.
Red-crowned crane is a rare bird in the red book. According to the International Cranes Association, there are 15,000 - 20,000 individuals worldwide, of which 8,000 - 10,000 cranes are distributed in India, Nepal, Pakistan. The Eastern cranes (mainly Vietnam and Cambodia) have recorded about 850 red-crowned cranes since 2014, but by 2014 there were only 234, currently there are only about 160.
