Focus on vocational training for people
In recent times, Krong Nang district, Dak Lak province has focused on effectively implementing the National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development for Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Areas for the 2021-2030 period. Phase I from 2021 to 2025 (also known as Program 1719).
In the period of 2022 - 2023 alone, the Center for Vocational Education and Continuing Education of Krong Nang district opened 9 vocational training classes for 315 students in the area with a total implementation cost of more than 1 billion VND.
Most of these people after training have found jobs that match their qualifications. Recently, Mr. Trieu Viet Tue (Tay ethnic, in Ea Tam commune) attended a class on planting and caring for agricultural plants organized by the Commune People's Committee and the Center for Vocational Education and Continuing Education of Krong Nang district.
With the accumulated knowledge, Mr. Tue decided to improve the land, choose suitable varieties to grow coffee and intercrop some other crops such as pepper to increase income. Thanks to that, Mr. Tue's family has gradually escaped poverty and has a stable income.
The leader of the People's Committee of Ea Tam commune informed that from 2020 to now, people in the commune have participated in 2 vocational training classes (about 35 - 40 students/class). Particularly from the beginning of 2024 to now, people in the commune have participated in 3 vocational training classes on industrial sewing; repairing agricultural machinery and motorbikes; techniques for planting and caring for durian trees...
Many poor households and ethnic minorities, after studying, have improved their skills to apply the knowledge they have learned to develop production, escape poverty, and become rich legitimately.
Need to remove difficulties
Mr. Nong Duc Nam - Director of the Center for Vocational Education and Continuing Education of Krong Nang district - shared: "To attract people to learn vocational skills under the National Target Program, it is necessary to increase the support level for students from 30,000 VND/student/school day to 50,000 to 70,000 VND/student/school day.
Every year, the budget for repair, maintenance, and purchase of equipment for vocational training is very large (from 6 billion to 7 billion VND). However, at the end of the year, the Center must return this budget to the State.
"Because according to the Law on Vocational Education, the District Vocational Education - Continuing Education Center is not a vocational education facility. Therefore, the unit is not supported to repair, maintain, and purchase equipment for vocational training according to the National Target Program 1719" - Mr. Nam said.
While the undisbursed funds must be returned, the actual conditions of equipment, machinery... serving vocational training for rural workers at the unit are old, damaged, and even unusable.
"I hope the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Dak Lak province will continue to advise superiors to include the unit in the beneficiaries of capital for repair, maintenance, and purchase of equipment for vocational training under the three national target programs for the period 2012 - 2025," Mr. Nam added.
