On August 26, Secretary of the Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee Tran Phong and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Viet Hung came to inspect and encourage the forces searching for and repatriating martyrs' remains in the Thanh Dien Khanh Prison area.
At the scene, Senior Lieutenant Colonel Do Quang Hon - Deputy Head of Politics Department, Khanh Hoa Provincial Military Command - said that so far, the Team for searching and repatriating martyrs' remains has found 29 martyrs' remains in the Dien Khanh Citadel Prison area.
According to Mr. Hon, through sources, the Thanh Dien Khanh Prison area was once a place to detain and bury many revolutionary cadres and soldiers who sacrificed during the time they were captured by the enemy.
Currently, functional forces are continuing to cordon off and expand the search area. The search work is carried out meticulously and carefully because the remains have been buried for a long time and are easily broken and damaged.
At the inspection, leaders of Khanh Hoa province encouraged the forces currently performing the task of searching, repatriating and identifying martyrs' remains.
Provincial Party Secretary Tran Phong requested functional forces to put responsibility and affection into the search and repatriation of martyrs' remains; determined to do their best, not to miss martyrs' remains samples. At the same time, continue to strive to ensure the set progress, and soon bring heroic martyrs back to their families and homeland.
The team searching for and repatriating martyrs' remains under the Khanh Hoa Provincial Military Command called on veterans, veteran revolutionary cadres, historical witnesses and people who lived and worked in the Dien Khanh Prison area before 1975 to provide information related to the martyrs.
The information requested to be provided includes: martyr's full name, year of birth, hometown, combat unit, time and place of sacrifice, original burial place, suspected grave area; information from comrades, witnesses; diagrams, maps, images, letters, diaries, memorabilia or related documents.
