The North-South high-speed railway project is a project of strategic and national importance. Of which, the section passing through Binh Thuan province is 156 km long with 2 passenger stations, Phan Thiet station and Phan Ri station. Therefore, the implementation of the Phan Thiet station connection road project to the center of Phan Thiet city and the Phan Ri station planning plan are one of the important tasks of Binh Thuan province.
On the afternoon of March 13, the Standing Committee of Binh Thuan Provincial Party Committee held a meeting to listen to a report on the progress of the project connecting to the North-South high-speed railway, the section passing through Binh Thuan province.
Speaking at the meeting, Binh Thuan Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Hoai Anh emphasized that immediately after the project was approved by the National Assembly for investment, Binh Thuan province proactively developed a plan to connect important national transport routes (North - South high-speed railway, North - South high-speed road, ...) with the center of the province. This will open up new space, creating new momentum to contribute to promoting the development of the East-West economic corridor of the province.
According to the planning plan, the route connecting the center of Phan Thiet city with the North - South high-speed railway line is about 11.2 km long. The project is expected to have a scale of 12 lanes with a total investment of about VND6,990 billion, including reserve land allocation to invest in the urban light rail system (electric metro ship) in the future in sync with the road route. The starting point is at the intersection of Le Duan Street and Truong Chinh Street (National Highway 1), Phan Thiet City. The end point (Km11+200) intersects with the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet expressway in Ham Hiep commune, Ham Thuan Bac district.
Regarding the roadmap, it is expected that phase 1 (2026 - 2030) will complete site clearance for the entire route; invest in completing 6 lanes for motor vehicles and technical infrastructure works with a total investment of about VND6,470 billion. Phase 2 (after 2030) will continue to invest in the remaining items.
The leaders of Phan Thiet city and Ham Thuan Bac district, the two localities where the project passes through, are highly united with the route plan and determined to focus their efforts and focus on coordinating with the provincial departments and branches to implement the project.
Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Do Huu Huy - Chairman of Binh Thuan Provincial People's Committee said that it is necessary to resolutely implement the connecting road project to connect smoothly when the North - South high-speed railway project through the province is reopened. Procedural issues need to be planned by departments, branches and sectors to speed up progress, including connectivity plans.
"How to shorten the progress as quickly as possible. The Provincial People's Committee will strongly direct departments and branches, especially the Department of Finance, to focus resources on site clearance," emphasized Chairman of Binh Thuan Provincial People's Committee Do Huu Huy.
Also at the meeting, the Standing Committee of Binh Thuan Provincial Party Committee assigned the Provincial People's Committee to lead the Provincial People's Committee to urgently complete the project investment plan, at the same time study the synchronous planning of the high-speed railway station urban area; plan and effectively promote the land fund on both sides of the new route; submit to the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee in April 2025 for comments. On that basis, complete relevant plans and report on the pre-feasibility study no later than July 2025. At the same time, study and report to the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee on the planning plan for Phan Ri station area.
Binh Thuan province is determined to complete the project by the fourth quarter of 2028, ready to connect with the North - South high-speed railway line.
