Currently, from the center of Phan Thiet city, to get to Ba Bau intersection to enter Phan Thiet - Dau Giay expressway, you have to go on National Highway 1, go back towards Dong Nai about 13km, then turn onto the access road about 2.5km to enter the expressway.
And from the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay highway exit, you can also get to the center of Phan Thiet. However, on weekends and holidays, there are often traffic jams and congestion at the Ba Bau intersection and the intersection to National Highway 1A.
According to the leader of the Department of Transport of Binh Thuan province, the Department has proposed a plan to have a highway connecting Phan Thiet city with a length of about 11.2 km.
With this proposal, the route starts at the intersection of Le Duan Street and Truong Chinh Street in Phan Thiet City and ends at the intersection of Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet Expressway at Km 225+160 in Ham Hiep Commune, Ham Thuan Bac District. In addition, at Km 8+700 of this proposed route, it is expected to intersect with the high-speed railway.
The total investment of the project is 4,208 billion VND. In phase 1, from now until 2030, the focus will be on site clearance, investment in 4 priority traffic lanes and 4 internal traffic lanes, and investment in technical infrastructure works.
Vice Chairman of Binh Thuan Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Hong Hai said that investing in the road connecting Phan Thiet city with the expressway is a key project of Binh Thuan province that needs to be implemented in the coming time.
Therefore, the Department of Planning and Investment is requested to advise and propose to the Provincial People's Committee to select a unit to research and establish an investment project for the route connecting Phan Thiet city with the expressway interchange. The Department of Construction coordinates with relevant departments, branches and localities to research and update relevant construction plans.
It can be seen that the route connecting the highway directly to the center of Phan Thiet city will form a main axis in the East - West direction connecting with important foreign traffic hubs. Thereby, it will open up a new development space to promote the socio-economic development of the locality.
