This special tour boat type is a traditional three-walled sailboat of Quang Ninh - which can use sails to go against the wind. Currently, 3 out of 10 three-walled sailboats of the project are being tested along the coast of Ha Long Bay and are receiving special attention from people and tourists.
According to this consortium, the type of boat when put into operation will create a tourism product with very high image promotion, helping tourists have more new experiences with appropriate time and reasonable cost.
This is also one of the reasons that helps tourists have more choices and extend their stay when coming to the old Ha Long City, contributing to increasing the value of four-season tourism.
According to the project, the enterprise proposes a route length of about 12km, in which the starting point is at the pick-up and drop-off point of the waterway passenger transportation company (Ha Long 1 market area, Hong Gai ward), passing through Cot 5 beach area (Ha Long ward), then circling back to the waterway passenger transportation company transportation area.
It is expected that the business will install 1 kiosk in the Vincom flower garden area to provide tourism information, services, routes, lists of connection route stops, passenger ticket prices, service criteria, departure times of all train trips during the day...
Regarding frequency, based on the assessment of characteristics and needs for sightseeing and tourism time on the route, the operating frequency is fixed at 6 trips/day, each trip is 1 hour/trip.
Regarding operating hours during the day: flight 1 from 8:00 AM; flight 2 from 9:00 AM; flight 3 from 10:00 AM; flight 4 starting at 2:00 PM; flight 5 starting at 3:00 PM; flight 6 from 4:00 PM.
Each boat, each trip carrying a maximum of 12 passengers and 2 crew members.
According to the project, businesses will prioritize local labor to convert the occupational structure from coastal fishing to tourism services. For captains, use personnel who know how to drive three-wall sailboats. Personnel wear traditional brown costumes, five-panel shirts, and leaf hats.
If licensed, the business will put the first boats into service for tourists right from the beginning of 2026.
However, the business also proposed that, because this is a special product to honor and preserve the traditional craft - the three-wall sailing craft of the province, and at the same time create a product with reasonable costs to serve people's livelihoods and develop tourism, baht entrance fees should not be charged for tourists on this tour. At the same time, it is proposed to limit the number of vehicles and units participating to ensure business efficiency for pioneering investors, as well as ensure management for this new type of product.
