71 years ago, right on the top of A1 Hill, fierce, tug-of-war battles took place for 39 days and nights. Now, the site that was once a fierce battlefield has become a famous historical tourist destination, attracting thousands of visitors every day.
The period of French colonial occupation of Hill A1 was called "Western Hill", "Elian (Eliane) 2"; from the Liberation Campaign of Dien Bien Phu in 1954 until now, it has been called " Hill A1".
