Dien Bien Phu City - the birthplace of the battlefield, where 71 years ago there was no longer a single piece of land, has now become a young and bustling city in the Northwest region.

As Dien Bien people, when witnessing the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification recently, everyone will be proud and reminisce about the heroic memories of a year ago - millions of people were present in Dien Bien Phu City to witness the parade and March to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory. A year has passed, but Dien Bien people are still proud and consider it a great motivation to continue to unite and strive to build their homeland and country.
With the spirit of no one left behind, at the end of 2024, many localities in the province have simultaneously started the project of rural power supply from the national grid under the program "brightening Dien Bien". When the program "brightens Dien Bien", the electricity will be lighted up to 100% of villages and villages in the province with over 98% of households using the national electricity grid.
Last April, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dien Bien province held a conference to summarize the implementation of support to build Great Unity houses for poor households in border villages. After more than 5 months of implementation, the program to build houses for poor households in border villages has completed 300 houses that have been renovated and put into use.
Not long before, Dien Bien province had completed 5,000 houses under the Project to support the construction of Great Unity houses for poor households (Project 09). This is a project launched by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front towards the 70th Anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory.
Also at the end of April, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Dien Bien province signed a decision to spend nearly 7 billion VND to support housing for 169 families with meritorious services to the revolution and relatives of martyrs.
Proud to continue writing the victorious epic
2025 is not an even year to celebrate the Dien Bien Phu Victory, but many meaningful programs and events have taken place during the historic May days.
Speaking at the special art program " Non Song Gam Co - A Strip of Glory" held on the night of March 3 attracting tens of thousands of attendees, Mr. Vu A Bang - Vice Chairman of Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee - emphasized that the Dien Bien Phu Victory on May 7, 1954 is an immortal heroic song, marking the strong will and strong patriotism of the Vietnamese people.
Showing that determination and aspiration, on the morning of May 6, Dien Bien province organized the "AI Festival" and launched the "digital education in the village" movement. This is one of a series of activities to popularize digital knowledge and skills to all people, so that everyone can use smart devices, access essential digital services and participate safely and effectively in cyberspace.
Mr. Le Thanh Do - Chairman of Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee - said that with the "Digital crop education" movement, Dien Bien province aims to strive to have 100% of adults with basic knowledge of digitalization, appropriate digital skills and ready to actively participate in digital society by 2026.
