On the morning of December 24, the authorities of Khanh Hoa province allowed people and vehicles with a load capacity of less than 5 tons, along with passenger cars with 16 seats or less, to travel again through Khanh Le Pass on National Highway 27C - the main traffic axis connecting Nha Trang with Da Lat.
Thus, after more than a month of efforts to overcome the particularly serious landslide incident, Khanh Le Pass has basically met safety conditions to gradually reopen traffic activities.
Previously, on the evening of November 16, a large landslide occurred in the Khanh Le Pass area when a rock block from the positive slope suddenly rolled down onto the road, hitting a passenger bus traveling from Da Lat to Nha Trang.
The incident caused particularly serious consequences, killing 6 people and injuring 19 others.
Immediately after the incident, National Highway 27C through Khanh Le Pass was forced to temporarily stop traffic to serve rescue work, overcome landslides and ensure safety for people.
During this time, vehicles from Nha Trang to Da Lat and vice versa must move around Phan Rang, along National Highway 27 and then over Song Pha Pass, causing the distance to be long, causing many costs and inconveniences.
According to the Department of Construction of Khanh Hoa province, after the opening, Khanh Hoa Road Management and Construction Joint Stock Company will continue to repair, monitor and assess the safety level of the route to soon ensure conditions for the route to return to normal operation.
