According to data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, from the beginning of 2025 to now, African swine fever has appeared in 972 outbreaks in 718 communes and wards in 33/34 provinces and cities across the country, killing and destroying more than 100,000 pigs. Currently, 542 communes in 30 provinces and cities have not been 21 days since the new outbreak was detected. This development not only threatens agricultural production, but also has a direct impact on the socio-economy and food safety.

In the face of the above situation, the Standing Committee of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment has sent a document to the Standing Committees of provincial and municipal Party Committees directly under the Central Government, emphasizing the need to focus on leading and directing drastically and synchronously the measures to prevent and control epidemics. The document requires local Party committees and authorities to consider this an urgent task, directly linked to economic development and social stability.

One of the important contents emphasized is the serious implementation of Directive No. 34-CT/TW of the Secretariat and the Prime Minister's telegrams on strengthening the prevention and control of African swine fever. Along with that, it is necessary to fully and promptly implement Decree No. 116/2025/ND-CP of the Government on policies to support disease recovery.
Information and propaganda work is also needed to increase awareness of the political system and the entire population about the risk of epidemics. In particular, professional measures such as vaccination, disinfection, and disease monitoring must be implemented synchronously and continuously, minimizing the risk of widespread spread.
In addition, consolidating and perfecting the grassroots veterinary system is considered a key solution. Commune and ward veterinary forces must be arranged with sufficient human resources, be professionally trained and equipped with necessary working conditions to closely monitor and handle the epidemic in a timely manner. Strengthening inspection and supervision of pig transportation, trading and slaughter has also been strictly directed to avoid the situation of epidemics spreading through consumption channels.
