Over the past year, Yen Son district, Tuyen Quang province has achieved many positive results in job creation and sustainable poverty reduction in 2024, affirming the locality's correct and effective steps in socio-economic development.
Informing reporters, the leader of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Yen Son district said that in 2024, Yen Son district created jobs for 5,258 workers, exceeding the set plan by 120.3% (4,370 workers). Of which, jobs in the province: 3,386 workers (reaching 118.6% of the plan).
Domestic employment (outside the province) 1,504 workers (130.9% of the plan), labor export 368 workers, 100.8% of the plan.
Along with that, the district has coordinated with 13 recruitment companies, organized 10 job fairs, attracted more than 7,000 workers and students and distributed over 18,750 leaflets. These are practical activities to help people access job opportunities and vocational training.
In addition, last year, the district organized 12 vocational training classes with 409 students, raising the rate of trained workers to 71.5%.
Of these, 28.7% of workers have official diplomas and certificates. In addition, training courses at the district Vocational Education and Training Center and Tuyen Quang Vocational College have helped many workers have more opportunities to improve their skills and develop their careers.
Mr. Ha Quoc Trung, Deputy Head of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Yen Son district, said that the district has also synchronously implemented many solutions to support poor households such as preferential credit, agricultural and industrial promotion, and technology transfer.
At the same time, education support for poor students with more than 12,695 students receiving support for study costs, rice and tuition exemption.
"From job opportunities in the form of "giving fishing rods, not fish", in 2024, the poverty rate of the district decreased from 15.04% to 10.86%, exceeding the set target (down 4.18% compared to the plan of 3.73%). The total number of poor households decreased by 1,683 households, reaching 112.1% of the plan" - said the leader of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Yen Son district.
As one of the people who received advice and support to work abroad and has reaped the first "sweet fruits" with the amount of money sent home more than 20 million VND per month, Mr. Then Van Thuong (Kim Quan commune, Yen Son district) said that thanks to being introduced to study language and work under a contract abroad, his family's life has improved significantly.
