According to Lao Dong's source, Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee has just issued Decision No. 108 approving the results of the review of poor households and near-poor households in 2025 according to the multidimensional poverty standard for the period 2022-2025.
According to the results, the total number of households in Dien Bien province is 143,650 households. The multidimensional poverty rate (including poor and near-poor households) accounts for 30.83%, corresponding to 44,289 households.
Specifically, the number of poor households is 25,541 households, accounting for 17.78%. The number of near-poor households is 18,748 households, accounting for 13.05%.
Statistics show a clear differentiation in living standards between urban and rural areas.
In urban areas (Dien Bien Phu, Muong Thanh, Muong Lay wards), the multidimensional poverty rate is at 3.40% (770 households). In which, Dien Bien Phu ward no longer has poor households, only 4 near-poor households remain. Muong Thanh ward has 2 poor households, 4 near-poor households.
In rural areas (42 communes), the multidimensional poverty rate is 35.97% with 43,519 households being poor and near-poor. The poverty rate in this area is 20.67%, the near-poor rate is 15.30%.
