Accelerate work
The investment project to build Can Tho City Oncology Hospital with a scale of 500 beds (referred to as the project) has a total investment of more than 2,071 billion VND, from ODA loans of the Hungarian Government, central budget capital and local budget counterpart capital.
In early 2026, the project was restarted and is expected to be completed by the end of this year as directed by the Government.

According to records, these days, the working atmosphere here is always busy, hundreds of workers are speeding up construction, vehicles carrying materials are bustling in and out,...

Mr. Vo Thanh Duong (construction worker at the project) said that, identifying this as a key medical project of the Mekong Delta, the workers are always determined to complete the assigned tasks well.
I know that in recent years, cancer patients have suffered from overload at the old hospital, so we try to work seriously so that people can soon have a place to treat themselves and rest better" - Mr. Duong said.

Similarly, worker Kim Sang expressed: "During the working process, we will check carefully to prevent errors at the construction site.
According to the design, the hospital is divided into 4 main areas, including: hospital reception area, administrative area; examination and treatment area; treatment area and intensive care area (concentrating radiation therapy machines, MRI).

Mr. Do Van Toi (labor safety officer of the project) said that about 200 workers were briefed on labor safety regulations 15 minutes before each time they entered/leaved the working shift. Regarding construction hygiene, each floor is divided into 2 toilet areas, in addition, it is also necessary to ensure height safety and electrical safety.

Construction progress reaches 90%
According to a quick report, the current construction progress of the project is about 90%. In August, implement items such as: construction of ventilation and air conditioning systems; building management system; cable television and sound systems;... continue to mobilize about 350 workers to work.
Previously, on July 29, at the project, Bach Dang Construction Corporation organized a launching ceremony for the "60 days and nights" emulation movement to accelerate to ensure progress - quality - safety for Package No. 01, General Contractor for Design, Supply of Technology Equipment and Construction Works (EPC). The emulation period takes place from July 29 - September 30.

Attending the ceremony, Mr. Tran Van Dung, Deputy Director of Can Tho City Department of Health (representative of the investor) acknowledged that the project was restarted after a long period of suspension, so the progress is still affected by procedures related to foreign contractors and the preferential loan mechanism of the Hungarian Government.
The slow delivery of some supplies and equipment provided by the Hungarian side to the construction site also affected the construction progress. Over the past time, the units have actively coordinated to remove difficulties and agreed on a plan to supplement supplies and manpower to compensate for the delayed progress.

Mr. Dung highly appreciated the resolute deployment spirit of the contractor, and affirmed that the Department of Health will continue to accompany throughout the construction process, promptly coordinating to remove arising difficulties and obstacles.
It is known that the focus of this emulation is to optimize construction organization, supplement human resources and equipment, and accelerate progress according to the motto "as soon as the ground is cleared, construction is completed", but not to trade off the quality of the project.
Previously, leaders of the People's Council and People's Committee of Can Tho City directly inspected the project progress and requested units to closely follow the construction plan, and if difficulties arise, they must be removed immediately, not allowing prolonged congestion.
